Okay, so it seems that some labs use ng/dl and some use pg/ml (and maybe even nmol/L ?) for their free testosterone reference ranges. In anyone is curious, 1 nanogram/dl = 10 picograms/dl. My free test level is 67pg/ml and the (converted) normal level of a male my age is 123pg/ml. Tells me what I need to know.
Testosterone levels fluctuate a LOT. Neither low 300s nor 500s in a random test are a definite sign of hypogonadism. In fact low 300s at 10 am is perfectly normal. Neither is “low” free T. Hormones differ from person to person and so does androgenic receptor sensitivity.
